Smash Book 2013

Oh yes, it is going to happen: I'm finally going to use my Smash book! I have mine for about a year now, but wasn't really sure what to use it for. I think I have got the answer now...

There are some things that I like to use or to do now and then, but I'm never able to keep up with those. I already know that about myself for years about an agenda and a diary, I like to do a diary and an agenda can be really handy, but I forget about it or just simply don't use it. Now there is also Project Life, I really like the idea, but I'm sure I won't keep up with it.

So I decided to combine all 3 of those and I'll use my Smash Book as an agenda, a diary and PL in one. To keep it easy for myself, there won't be any rules. If I like something to capture, I'll add it. If I need to remember something or if I have a little story to tell, I'll write it down. If friends or family feel the need to write something in it, that's fine too. And anything else I find on my way through the year will be added too. Let's see how this will work out :-)

There was just one thing that I needed to prepare. Because I'll use my Smash Book as an agenda too, I need to carry it with me. That got me thinking about all the fun pockets, clips, notepads and tapes by Smash Book that I have. I want to have these with me too, so I can use them right away when I want to. So I added all those things to the inside of the front and back cover.

This is what my Smash Book collection looked like before I started.
I haven't done anything yet with the cover on the outside. Not sure yet if I want to, because it probably will get damaged by carrying it with me all the time.

This is the front cover on the inside:

On the left I added 2 notepads, a pad with tags and the number brads with another small notepad.

On the right I added some pieces of tape and a large pocket that holds some small pockets.
This is the back cover on the inside:
On the left I added pieces of tape.
On the right I placed the clips on the pocket that was already in the cover. That pocket also holds more large pockets. Also added some more pieces of tape and a small pocket that holds some more clips.
Well, I think I'm ready to start the year 2013!
If you do a Smash Book too, please link me up in a comment, I would love to see other Smash Books!!
Thanks for stopping by today.

Use it Tuesday Challenge: All about 2013

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!

It might be Christmas, but it's also the 4th Tuesday of the month, so we're up with a new challenge at Use it Tuesday!

The new challenge is: All about 2013! You actually do have a lot of freedom in this challenge, as long as your project has something to do with 2013, it is ok!

***REMEMBER: All of our challenges call for you to use your hoarded supplies! A challenge requirement is to tell us in your post what you used!***

As many of you know, every now and then I have my niece Phiene over for the weekend and I always take her out to do something fun. But I found out that it is pretty hard for a 3 year old to make choices and to pick 1 fun thing out of many fun things. So I decided to alter a chipboard box that we can fill with fun things to do and everytime she comes over, she can take a fun thing out and that's what we'll be doing. Let's see if that will work for her too :-) I already added some activities for 2013 to the box and she can add more during the year, she always has ideas herself too.

I've a few of these chipboard boxes and they are in my stash since 2005!! So it was about time to use them. The pink paintdabber hadn't seen any daylight for a long time as well. The chevron pattern is misted. I also found out that I have so many Thickers that I've never used, and they were perfect for this project!

Now it's your turn to come up with a fun 2013 project, can't wait to see what you're all going to make. And don't forget that this is the last challenge for this DT, so please hop on over to them and leave them some love!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Christmas!

New York, New York

It has been a crazy busy week, so I had to give in a little on scrapping time. But this weekend gave me some time to scrap, so I'm back now!
Today I'm sharing a layout with the Gossamer Blue November kit. Yesterday my December kit arrived, finally due to the horrible December mail delivery, so I try to kill the November kit this weekend.
I chose to go for a photo of my Las Vegas trip back in 2006. Another awesome place I really need to go back to!

Chicago Bean

Sometimes I love to scroll through my older photos and to (finally) scrap them. This time I went for a photo of my trip to Chicago in 2007. Chicago was for me 'love at first sight', can't explain what it was but it felt good and I just loved walking around in that city. The Millenium Park was one of my favorites and of course I had to take some pictures of Cloud Gate, or the Chicago Bean. I like that last name better :-)
Here's my layout with the Chicago Bean photo. I went for Webster's Pages Park Drive that came with the Gossamer Blue October kit.

Santa's little helper

It is the 2nd Tuesday of the month, so it is time for another challenge at Use it Tuesday!

The new challenge is: All about Christmas / Hanukkah!

***REMEMBER: All of our challenges call for you to use your hoarded supplies! A challenge requirement is to tell us in your post what you used!***

I don't have much Christmas photos, but lucky me for having my little nephew with his crazy mommy who put him on this Christmas hat. As you can see, he seems to think it's funny too! :-)

For this layout I used Crate Paper's Peppermint collection from last year. I still had it in my stash.
Crate Paper Peppermint: Gingerbread, Mistletoe, Mint, Embellish, Wintergreen, Snow Globe, Present, Alpha labels, Sew Brads.

Now it's your turn to create your Christmas or Hanukkah project with your hoarded stash and to share it with us at Use it Tuesday!

Fashionable

Today I'm back with another Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic layout, made with the Gossamer Blue Nov kit. This collection is so cute and I love the soft color palette. Last week I got these photos of Phiene and they just make me laugh, I know how she likes to dress up and she already has an opinion about clothes.

Happy smile

This weekend I have been playing with some Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic that came with the Gossamer Blue November kit. This collection is so amazingly cute. It's perfect for sweet little girl photos and you all know who the sweetest little girl in my life is: my niece Phiene. When she's laughing, you can't do anything else than laughing with her. I also have to say that I'm really thankful for her dad's photography skills, he's the master in capturing her lovely smile.

Castel Sant' Angelo

Happy weekend everyone! Today I'm sharing a layout with one of my favorite pics of Rome. It's already been 8 years since I've been there, but still I haven't scrapped all the photos of that trip. Looking at those photos really make me want to go back, love the beauty of that city and all it's history. And don't forget about the delicious Italian food, so yummie!

I used the Gossamer Blue November kit and went with the Heidi Swapp papers and products. The vintage look fits perfectly with Rome pictures.

Use it Tuesday Challenge #44

It is the 4th Tuesday of the month, so it is time for another challenge at Use it Tuesday!

The new challenge is: Use an uninked stamp. If you're like me, you have tons of stamps but most of them you never use. Now it is the time to dust them off and finally give them a try!

***REMEMBER: All of our challenges call for you to use your hoarded supplies! A challenge requirement is to tell us in your post what you used!***

I have many of those Hero Arts Background stamps, but hardly use them. I still love them when I see them just standing there in my cabinet, but to be honest I especially find it hard to use them on layouts. So I went for a card this time and, because it's the holiday season, of course it became a Christmas card.

My hoarded supplies: of course the Hero Arts background stamp, the bright colored cardstock that I used for the snowmen, the bling on the snowflakes.
I made the snowmen, the snowflakes and the sentiment with the Silhouette. The snowmen are a Lori Whitlock cutfile, aren't they the cutest?

Now it is your turn to create your project with an uninked stamp (or stamps).
And don't forget about the DT Call Use it Tuesday is having right now! You can find all the details about it overhere on their blog. You still have a few days to apply!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Your sweet smile

Today I'm sharing my first layout with the November kit of Gossamer Blue. This time the kit is filled with products of Heidi Swapp, Dear Lizzy, Pink Paislee, I {lowe} scrap, Sodalicious and Glitz Design.

For this first layout I went with the Glitz Design products, because they are matching perfectly with this photo of Phiene that I had in mind. Her pink jacket is the right color to match the Glitz Hello Friend collection.

Mr blue eyes

Today I'm sharing another layout with the Gossamer Blue October kit. Last Friday I received the November kit, so I wanted to finish up the leftovers of the last kit.
This kit was just simply fabulous. It was filled with the most beautiful matching papers that gave me a 'fall feeling'. I'm not so much a fall person and don't have many fall photos, but I still found it easy to work with.

I used this beautiful close-up of baby Jan and have been playing with the Silhouette.

Countdown to Christmas and a new DT

Happy Saturday morning everyone!

First of all I'm thrilled to share with you that I'll be part of the Practical Scrappers DT, starting January. Practical Scrappers is an online source of scrapbook inspiration and I'm really excited they are giving me the chance to be an inspiration to others! They are having 3 teams and I'll be on the On Trend team. This team will focus on trendier topics, tools etc, with a primary focus on layouts and cards.

Ok, now that I'm done with my happy dance I'll will share another project with you that I made with a Lori Whitlock cut file. I have been downloading Lori's cut files like crazy lately, they are so much fun to make some really cool projects.
Last week I made this 25 day Countdown box for Phiene, so she can countdown to Christmas. The fun thing about this one is that you can use it over and over again. Next year her mommy can fill the boxes again with candy.

What I also love about this one, is that you can take each box out so you can mix the numbers up. This way Phiene can learn her numbers and find herself the right box to open.

Crate Paper, Peppermint collection: Embellish, Wintergreen, Mint
White Bazzill

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great weekend!
