Crate Paper - August weekly challenge

Crate Paper is having a fun challenge which is all about Navy Blue and Sequins. I can tell you, both the navy blue and the sequins are a huge challenge for me! Crate Paper's Story Teller collection helped me out with the navy blue challenge, so that wasn't as hard as I expected. The sequins are something different, I find it hard to use them on a layout. I was lucky to have some of the Studio Calico sequins in navy blue so at least colorwise they matched the challenge and the papers. I ended up using them as a border and stitched them on the paper.

Carta Bella - Playground at the zoo

For this layout I decided to play with watercolors in the background. I thought it would be a nice fit with these Carta Bella Hello Again papers that came with the Scraptastic August kit. I tried to create some kind of ombre effect, which is not so easy as it seems. Also because the cardstock gets bubbly quickly when you use too much water. But in the end it turned out ok.

Carta Bella Hello Again: Small Floral paper, Take Note paper, Chit Chat paper, Journaling Cards paper
Ormolu flair
Studio Calico: Sequins, Cork arrows
Dear Lizzy: Thickers Treasure
Jillibean Soup: Alphabeans Blueberry Teal
Fancy Pants Memories Captured: Label sticker
Scraptastic die cut
Watercolors

Crate Paper - 1938

The huge clean up of my scrap stash also made me realize which beautiful collections I still had and hardly used. One of them is Crate Paper's Story Teller and I had the perfect photo to go with it. This photo of my grandfather and his parents and siblings  is taken at the wedding of my grandfather's sister in 1938. My grandfather is the one on the right. I love old photos like these and I hope to get my hands on some more old family photos.

Crate Paper - Darling little girl

Today I'm sharing a layout with you that I made with my leftovers from the Crate Paper Fourteen and DIY Shop collections. Never thought that these 2 collections would match, but they do!

I took this photo the last time Phiene was spending a weekend with me. She is at an age now that she doesn't like the camera and turns her head away. So I make sure that I'm ready with my camera and then call her name so she looks up :-) I know, it's not very nice but when she's older she hopefully will like to have all these photo albums...

DT Life.Paper.Scrapbook. - August Color challenge

It's time for this month's color challenge at Life.Paper.Scrapbook!

This is a color scheme that I would not buy a lot myself. Luckily the July kit from the Scraptastic kit club had a lot of brown and orange in it, so I was good to go! I used a mix of Basic Grey and Teresa Collins and the orange corrugated alpha by Amy Tangerine was a perfect fit too.

Speaking of Amy Tangerine... American Crafts is sponsoring this color challenge and provides an Amy Tangerine prize pack to the winner of this challenge!

I hope you feel inspired by these colors and will play along with us! Check out the Life.Paper.Scrapbook. blog for some more inspiration by my fellow DT members.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

DT Practical Scrappers - layout sketch

Today we have a layout sketch for you at Practical Scrappers.

I got to play with the new My Mind's Eye Cut & Paste collection. I'm so in love with the colors and patterns that I was scared to do the first cut ;-) This collection also comes with some fun enamel shapes. I'm a little over all the enamel dots, but these shapes are really cute!

These photos were taken about 2 weeks ago, when we had the hottest day of the year. Me and my best friend decided to take the afternoon off and to rent a little boat for a couple of hours. We had some good quality time and being on the water was very comfortable with these high temperatures.

My Mind's Eye Cut & Paste "Flair": Snapshots Click paper, Forever Always paper, Today Quoted paper, Small Point paper, Wow Sweet paper, Decorative Brads, Enamel Shapes
Lily Bee Design: Persnickity ABC stickers
Silhouette Cameo

I hope you feel inspired by this sketch too and you'll share your layout with us at the Practical Scrappers Facebook page.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

DT Practical Scrappers - Sunbursts

Today it's all about Sunbursts at Practical Scrappers!

I used the Glitz Design Sunshine in my Soul collection and made a sunburst pattern for the background and handstitched all the pieces together. The photo on this layout may not be perfect because of the sun shining in, but still it is one of my favorite photos of me and Phiene. It's taken at the Morada Bay Beach Cafe on Islamorada, Florida Keys during our family vacation in 2011.
I used the name of this collection as the title of my page, it thought it was a perfect fit!

Glitz Design Sunshine in my Soul: 6x6 paper pad, alpha & word stickers, title & accent stickers
Silhouette Cameo
Handstitching

We would love to see your sunburst projects, so share them with us at the Practical Scrappers Facebook page.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Bella Blvd - Love at first sight

About 2 weeks ago I started to clean up my stash and I guess you all know: when you start it, there's no way back! But I'm happy I did it. I have been throwing pieces of scraps away, sold old collections and I have a good overview of what I have left.

I found some leftovers from the Bella Blvd Baby collections. Mostly it was the Baby Boy collection I had left and I challenged myself to make a layout with a baby girl photo. It wasn't that easy, but I think it worked out well.

This photo is taken during my very first moment with Phiene, almost 4 years ago. This little girl decided to come a few days early, so I was still in New York when she was born. I couldn't wait to get home and see her! When the moment was finally there, I had this overwhelming feeling of love for her and promised her I would be her best friend forever....and spoil her like crazy!

Bella Blvd Baby Boy: Baby Blue paper, Heaven Sent paper, Cute Cuts paper.
Bella Blvd Baby Girl: Alpha + bits, Miniatures, Flags
Bella Blvd We're Expecting: Miniatures
Bella Blvd Family Dynamix: Alpha + bits
Bella Blvd Sophisticates: Essentials Peep & McIntosh
Bella Blvd Designer Tapes: Green chevron, Red dots
Bella Blvd Button Market: Red Flowers

Amy Tangerine Yes, Please - card

Just a quick post to today to share a card I've made with the adorable Yes, Please collection from Amy Tangerine.

I used a stamp from the Yes, Please clear stamp set to make the love border on the inside of the card.
Amy Tangerine Yes, Please: 6x6 paper pad, clear stamp set, Bits cardstock die cuts

Have you seen Amy's brand new collection Cut & Paste? I'm in love again and I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Scrapdelight - layout sketch

This weekend I have been playing with a sketch that was posted in the Scrapdelight Facebook group.

This sketch is not really matching my style, but I found a way to make it my own. I used the Lily Bee Pinwheel collection. I love this collection so much, but there's almost nothing left of it in my stash. I still was able to make 1 more layout with it.

Lily Bee Design Pinwheel: Jump Rope paper, Kite Strings paper, Flip-flops paper, Cart Wheels paper, Picnic Basket paper, Lime Rickey paper, Circle & Tag stickers, Chit Chat stickers, Letter stickers
My Mind's Eye: enamel dots
Kaiser Craft: stamp
Silhouette Cameo
